Travelers Commits to Haitian Earthquake Relief Efforts
Travelers Foundation sends $50,000 and pledges to match employee
donations up to $50,000
NEW YORK, January 19, 2010 – The Travelers Companies, Inc. (NYSE: TRV) today announced that in response to the devastation caused by the earthquake in Haiti, the Travelers Foundation is sending $50,000 to the American Red Cross to assist relief efforts.
“Our hearts go out to the Haitian people as they face the aftermath of this natural disaster,” said Marlene Ibsen, CEO & President of the Travelers Foundation.
The Travelers Foundation also has created a special disaster relief matching program so that Travelers employees may contribute between $25 and $500 to the Haitian earthquake relief efforts through the American Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders, International Rescue Committee, Save the Children, UNICEF or the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund and have their contributions matched.
“The Haitian people need our help immediately and we are proud to support the relief efforts by magnifying our employees’ generous contributions,” said Ibsen. The Travelers Foundation will match employee contributions up to $50,000, for a total contribution of $100,000.
